Final Trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps Drops Online

We are merely a couple weeks out from seeing Marvel’s first family make their MCU debut. To celebrate tickets now being available, Marvel has given us one final look at the upcoming film in the form of the final trailer, watch the new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, below.

Each member of the team has their little moment in this final trailer as they’re really trying to hit home the family dynamic. Throughout the entire marketing campaign, they’ve seemingly withheld a lot of footage. Across the 2/3 full-length trailer that have released so far, a lot of it seems to be recycled or from the first couple of acts. I think this is a major improvement over some of Marvel’s more recent trailers, which have shown too much, in some cases even the final act with Captain America: Brave New World.

My biggest hope is that they have learnt from this lesson and in fact have purposely decided not to show us too much of the story, instead, really narrowing in on the family dynamic to sell the film. After all, this is their unique dynamic, certainly for the MCU. Yes, the Avengers have felt like a family at points, but until we move into X-Men territory then the Fantastic Four is Marvels best way to explore these themes organically.

Another standout from the trailer is the physical presence and scale of Ralph Ineson’s Galactus. Whilst we’re yet to see his face on screen, just the knowledge that they built miniature sets so he could walk amongst the cities as a giant really helps to convince people of this gargantuan threat. The commitment to physical effects and miniatures to pull off the scale rather than reverting to CGI (which of course there will still be a lot of) at least shows the intentions are right, to do justice to the character after his last on-screen depiction was as a big purple cloud… let’s just say I’m relieved they’re switching things up.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits screens on the 25th of July.
