James Whitehead
Dinosaurs, Superheroes and Freddy Prinze Jr, July has you covered for big summer releases.
Every month, on our socials we release our “Big Hits for the Big Screen” a show that highlights some of the biggest releases coming to cinemas that month. But as the summer months start to pick up, we simply can’t cover everything. So below we have even more choices for what you can see in cinemas in the month of July, as well as one bonus entry at the end, strictly for streaming!
Coming out this month:
Jurassic World: Rebirth (2nd of July)
A new team of mercenaries and scientists travel to one of the original research facilities from Jurassic Park, only to find out that some things are better left unfound. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey.
Superman (11th of July)
My most anticipated film of the summer is here; James Gunn’s Superman must reconcile his kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent. As the first film in the brand newly constructed DC Extended Universe, it simply has to deliver on the story and the tone promised in order to springboard this new cinematic universe with momentum, but with James Gunn at the helm I’m sure we’re in good hands.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (18th of July)
A legacy sequel to the 1997 cult classic, a new group of friends are terrorised by a stalker who knows about a gruesome incident from their past. Forcing them to turn to some of the survivors form the original incident. Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps (25th of July)
Marvel’s first family are finally making their long-awaited debut in the MCU. In an alternate world where the F4 are Earth’s only protector’s, an encounter with Galactus will test this family and their world to its’ limits, in a film that’s meant to play a large role in setting up next year’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Together (30th of July)
Real-life Husband and Wife, Dave Franco and Alison Brie team up together as fictional couple Tim and Millie in this genre-bending tale about, love and co-dependence. The pair move the country in order to rekindle their love in the aftermath of a tragedy, only to find an unnatural entity forcing them together in ways they didn’t know were possible
BONUS ENTRY!
Happy Gilmore 2 (25th of July only on Netflix)
Happy is back! And although it won’t be coming to cinemas, the original Happy Gilmore is still one of my most beloved comedies of all time, so it simply had to make the cut. Sandler is back interacting with some of the biggest names in the world of golf, now it’s about how many of them he can annoy.
So, there you have all the major releases to keep an eye out for this month, as ever stay up to date with the TV and Film section on the Hits player, for more news and reviews for these films once they are released.
