Ever since Alien: Romulus surprised and excited audiences in 2024, the desire for more stories in the Alien world has been reinvigorated. Whilst there’s no current release dates announced for new films, fans were still happy to find out that FX’s new Alien: Earth series was already deep into development.
Now, via this new teaser, we get our first glimpse of the new series.
The plot synopsis for the show is as follows: “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.” The series stars Sydney Chandler (Sugar, Don’t Worry Darling) and Timothy Olyphant (Fargo, The Mandalorian) and is being brought to the small screen by showrunner Noah Hawley who also was involved with the Fargo TV series as the executive writer.
As teaser trailers go, the visuals and the tone already feel very familiar and in-keeping with the Alien world. From the cinematography to the set design I can’t imagine any fans of the property not being excited by what’s on offer so far. The team behind the series has a lot of credibility and knows how to tell stories in this medium so it’s very exciting to see how they can convert this big-screen franchise into a longer form of storytelling.
The series is being produced by FX and will be streamed on Hulu in the US and on Star via Disney+ in the UK, so stay tuned for more updates and news on the series set to release in the summer of 2025.
