Move over Bob Dylan, it’s the boss’ time to shine on the big screen with our first look at Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as the iconic American singer.

Continuing the Hollywood trend, the next artist up on the biopic carousel is no other than Bruce Springsteen himself. Jeremy Allen White, from The Bear and Iron Claw, steps in to play and voice the artist, early concerns have already been put to bed with the actor striking a great resemblance vocally, as fans were unaware of his ability to recreate the depth and gravel-like tones of Springsteen.
Whilst it’s a small sample size in the trailer, the actor certainly embodies the singer both on stage and off, with the film promising an inward look into the singer’s upbringing and relationships with those close to him. Whilst many biopics focus on the origin story or early years of the artist, the trailer drops us right into his assembly of the Nebraska Album, an angle which will hopefully bring us more insight to the emotions the star was feeling at the time.
The balancing of stardom, with a tremendous sense of guilt and trauma is evident throughout the trailer and by choosing to pick the story up in this way it will hopefully show a tale to the generic rise, fall and rise again rhythm prevalent in most music biopics.
Scott Cooper is bringing this project to life with a stellar cast; Stephen Graham is cast as Bruce’s complex father, Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Bruce’s manager and Paul Walter Hauser as the guitar technician helping Springsteen bring the album to life.
Whilst I declare I’m not a lifelong Springsteen fan, the team, talent and direction of this project gives me great confidence that we’re going to get another fantastic biopic covering an icon. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out as Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere comes out, on the 24th of October.
